María Lledó Laredo is the Secretary General for the European Union at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. She entered the diplomatic career on July 1, 1999.
During her career, she has also served as the Deputy Permanent Representative to the Political and Security Committee and Advisor on Parliamentary Affairs at the Representation of Spain to the EU.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Madrid, she has held the positions of Head of the Consular Action Service in the Directorate-General for Legal and Consular Affairs, and Head of the Coordination and Cooperation Service in the Directorate-General for Political Affairs and for the United Nations. Additionally, she has also worked as an Advisor to the Minister's Office and Director of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for International Cooperation.
She has been assigned to the Embassies of Morocco and London and has served as the Consul General in Algiers and Deputy Consul General in Bogota.
